How we replace lost car keys
When every key is gone, the car still knows exactly which keys it will accept. We read that from the car and make a new key it will trust. On most cars the whole job is done in one visit, usually in about 45 to 90 minutes once we arrive.
- We check ID and ownership first. Photo ID plus the V5C, finance, lease or insurance paperwork.
- We cut the blade to your locks. The key cut is decoded from the door lock, so it matches your car exactly.
- We program the new key to the car. Using professional diagnostic equipment through the car's OBD port, or on the bench for some models.
- We wipe the lost keys. Wherever the car allows it, the old keys are removed from its memory so they can't start it if someone finds them.
- We test everything with you. Locking, unlocking and starting, before we leave.
Why not go to the main dealer?
With no key at all, a dealer usually needs the car recovered to the garage and a new key ordered from the manufacturer. That can mean a recovery bill and several days without your car. We bring the kit to you, so you're normally driving again the same day.

Can you make a key if I've lost all my car keys?
Yes. We cut and program a new key at your car with no existing key needed. This is known as an all keys lost job and it's one of the most common things we do.
Will the lost keys still work if someone finds them?
On most cars we remove the old keys from the car's memory while we program the new one, so they can no longer start the car.
